Leigh Williams
Leigh’s experience extends across the electricity supply industry – in operations, commercial management and the strategic development of business units in consultant and client organisations. He has first class communication skills and the ability to operate at executive level.
He has worked for a Power Cable OEM, a Transmission Utility, the Energy Regulator and a number of major consultancies.
Roman Svoma
Roman specialises in all aspects of AC/DC land and subsea cable system design, installation and testing and has offered consultancy is these areas since 2001. He is currently the B1 Regular Member and has served as a member of CIGRE Working Groups and Task Forces.
His wide industry experience covers feasibilities, FEEDs, project development, construction and commissioning and includes Basslink (Australia), East West Interconnector (Ireland), Transbay (San Francisco), Skaggerak 4 (Norway), NEMO (Belgium) and COBRA (Denmark).
Roman started his career at BICC Supertension and Subsea Cables where he was responsible for Cable Development of SCFF, XLPE, EPR, GF, MI and PPL cables up to 525kV.
Carlos Jorquera
Carlos has 25 years of experience in electrical power systems specialising in electrical plant design, power system studies, power generation, transmission planning, design of electrical power systems up to 500 kV, project management and quality assurance.
His extensive overseas experience includes feasibility studies, due diligence, conceptual design, preparation of specification and tender document and cost estimates, tender evaluation, design review, equipment witnessed testing and inspection, site supervision and project management.
Carlos’s expertise also includes submarine cables and the erection and commissioning of SF6 switchgear and oil filled cables.
Paul Johnson
Paul has almost 40 years experience with National Grid and has had leadership roles across the business lifecycle: from the development of enduring joint ventures and strategic relationships with new partners through to procurement, construction, safety and engineering – all major multi–£billion capital programmes.
Paul provides technical and strategic support to project developers/financiers and asset managers in the HV AC & DC power transmission and distribution sector.
Tim Jesson
Tim is an electricity transmission specialist with 34 years of experience working on all aspects of asset management and programme management activities, including extensive time with National Grid.
His experience ranges from site supervision through to commercial project management of multi million pound investment schemes. Tim has developed asset replacement strategic frameworks and programmes for asset replacement, and has developed the electricity network output measures for the UK transmission operators as part of the regulatory framework with Ofgem (the UK’s energy regulator).
Tim has extensive programme of developing asset investment and replacement projects through the concept to decision making phase and then supervising the team delivering the capital programme.
Andrew Hiorns
Andy has in-depth knowledge of Transmission Network Planning, Operations and Power System Economics and has facilitated the delivery of major projects to challenging timescales such as the Western HVDC Link (circa £1.5Bn of investment).
He has contributed significantly to the development of industry and regulatory codes and, as a recognised expert, served as a an expert witness and represented companies and the UK in national and international committees.
Andy can develop and deliver multi-company/multi-country strategies, identifying where value can be created and developing projects from concept to engineering solutions. Further skills include creating innovative solutions in planning and developing economically efficient electricity networks, including integrating renewables, storage and interconnection to facilitate de-carbonisation in the UK.
Phil Haywood
Phil is a highly motivated asset manager with over 30 years of experience in all areas of the asset life-cycle.
He has chaired two international collaborative groups and led a team which designed and ran benchmarking and best practice initiatives. Phil has helped develop PAS55 as part of a wider industry group and was part of the implementation team at National Grid who were the first Transmission utility to gain accreditation.
Phil has extensive experience in operating with international partners and is known and trusted by many transmission communities as an asset management specialist, chairman and facilitator.
Edgar Goddard
Edgar has wide experience of executive and senior management roles within large infrastructure companies and responsibility for policy development and delivery across world class energy companies. He has initiated, defined and directed the development of key areas of companies’ performance and processes and the development and delivery of significant infrastructure investments.
His previous roles have encompassed market operation, the development of commercial and market frameworks, construction, programme management, operations, business transformation and process change, asset management and information services.
Edgar’s experience and achievements have been against a backdrop of fast moving development in regulation, the industry, the market and the companies themselves.
Edgar entered the energy sector after 10 years in the Royal Navy Submarine Service as an Engineering Officer.
Oliver Aries
Oliver is a senior project manager and Chartered Engineer, experienced in delivering a portfolio of large complex power systems and overhead line asset replacement and new build projects. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET)
Oliver has 40 years experience within the high voltage electricity transmission sector within construction, asset management and operations, and a particular specialism in the area of overhead lines, substations and the deployment of fibre optic systems for utilities and power system protection.
Oliver is experienced in managing teams, technical resources and stakeholders, and has a strong track record of successfully developing business initiatives to deliver corporate objectives.
Bridget Morgan
With a wide range of experience as a government advisor, a distribution network design engineer and most recently as an independent consultant, Bridget has a rare blend of in-depth knowledge of the energy sector in the UK.
Bridget has substantial regulatory experience of each of the different stages of transformational change policy development. She had a successful career at Ofgem, with lead roles in the development and implementation of robust policy change proposals including smart metering and offshore transmission.
Bridget is a flexible team player who has delivered excellent results as part of a variety of teams and has a strong track record for identifying, developing and delivering timely, simple solutions to complex issues.
